Was really tired just now and fell asleep. Woke up 2 hours later. Saw a single bright star in the sky and began to notice more. The sky has cleared up slightly while I was sleeping...
Here is a picture of the stars I had spotted:

Although the altitude of Sirius was about 59degrees I had to squat on the floor and looked up and it was barely at the top edge of my window.
So I missed the wolf moon, the first full moon of the year. Sigh. The moon is now at alt=58,azi=318, roughly in the west, and since all the windows in my home sadly faces south there's no way I can spot the moon, together with the Gemini stars. :(
PS at 2.19am: i've spotted another pretty brightstar some distance to the right of Sirius. I'm not really sure what it is, but I'm guessing Capella.
(by the way if you're thinking whoa you're so smart, I'm not. I'm using a software called Stellarium and just comparing what I see with the computer screen :P )
