Titanic

Went to Wen Qiang's house yesterday. I was lazy to wake up early, but I was also desperate for some exercise, so I went for badminton at 10. As usual I was the only one drenched in sweat. :P

Then we went back to her house for potluck. I'd brought jelly, which I had prepared while watching "Pocahontas" the day before. hee... while waiting for the food to be ready, they decided to watch "Titanic". Didn't really want to watch it then... I mean they were talking and stuff and I would prefer to watch this tragic film alone. [Must be hard to believe that a TV nut like me is watching this blockbuster for the first time]

It was sad. Luckily I wasn't the only one crying. I think the film was shot beautifully. The panic as the ship began to be flooded; the desperation to get onto the lifeboat... Damn those rich people! Especially that Joseph Bruce Ismay. He did get the headline that he had wanted...at the expense of thousands of lives. How could they not prepare enough lifeboats? Preparing only sufficient boats for first-class passengers...crap.

An old couple holding each other close in bed, preparing for the imminent death; a mother tucking her two children in; a mother comforting her crying child, saying everything will be over soon; a group of four musicians who were asked to perform light and cheery music to alleviate the panic as everyone else were scrambling onto the lifeboats. Their dedication to music in the face of death was admirable.; a group of people gathering around Father Byles who was praying for all of them... Jack asking Rose to promise to stay alive... Jack sinking into the icy waters...

Cherie was sitting beside me and giving sceptical comments like "aiyah 演戏嘛..." ... ...

Felt sad for a long time after watching... and tired from all the crying. I went home and slept for 12 hours. Really, I slept at 12.30am and woke up 12.30pm. And my whole body is aching from playing badminton.

Read the memorable quotes from Titanic here.

and Wen Qiang flew off to Denmark yesterday. Kind of sudden...
