From peasant to knight; one man can change his stars

I just watched "a knight's tale" on channel 5.

It's very inspiring, how a son of a thatcher could fight his destiny and create his own future. But i think that just happens in movies. Not in real life. I mean, sure, you can modify your future, but change it? I'm not so sure. There are so many things in this world that are so totally out of our control. The perceptions of the society, the family we were born into, all the social stigma..We are so restricted.

What a depressing thought. Won't that make our efforts useless and meaningless?

That's why there are movies and TV shows like these that give us some comfort. That we should always have hope.

P.S. I just love anything that is medieval : kings, castles, knights... Wow.
